†March 9, 2025

Born in Sandema on November 9, 1964, the late assistant commissioner of police, Albert Akanjargnab Adiita, began his career as a teacher in Sandema and Chuchulga in the early 1980s before joining the police service in 1989 and completing his recruit training the following year. He served his probation year at Asokwa District Police Command in the Ashanti Region. To enhance his skills, he trained as a detective at the Detective Training School in Accra in 1993. Ambitious to climb the career ladder, he pursued further studies at the University of Cape Coast from 1997 to 2001. Upon completion, he underwent senior officers’ police training at the Ghana Police Academy in 2004, was commissioned as a senior officer, and promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police. His dedication to service propelled him through the ranks to the distinguished rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in December 2022. He retired from active service in August 2024 and relocated to Sandema, his hometown.
Affectionately called Happy for his kind and cheerful disposition, Akanjargnab was a big fan of the nagela war dance held during the annual Fiok/Feok festivities and featured regularly as a dancer in the Abilyeri nagela dance troupe on several occasions. He never missed the annual festival if he could. His passion for Fiok/Feok earned him the honorable position of Fiok/Feok 2024 chairperson, which, unfortunately, was to be his last. He passed away in his sleep on March 9, 2025, barely half a year after retirement. Following a mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sandema, he was laid to rest on May 5, 2025. The ceremony drew numerous police commanders and officers from across the country. He left behind a daughter and two sons.
